In a days work

Last night I was up until 1am working on my scene for my latest work. Due to some personal issues, I had to skip a scene and eventually knew I had to get on top of it. So I wrote it out last night. Of course it will need tweaking, but now I have done that I can move forward….or backward. I’m reworking a few more scenes to give it more “umph”.

Also, you might find 2 of my entries on Romance Diva's Best First Meeting contest. Although I won't tell you which ones. I'm also helping to co-ordinate this contest with our lovely Gina, Laura, Maria and two other Divas that have willingly jumped into the fray: Karen and Sienna. Wonderful girls.

On non-writing related news, I moved my daughter into her own room. Originally she was in a nursery, but at 2..well almost 2 she is to old for that small room. For the last month or so she had been sleeping in our bedroom because the air-conditioning in her room is broken. So she became used to sleeping in a porta-cot.

We moved her cot (without the side rails) into her new room, but because she was able to get out of it she didn’t settle. So yesterday I moved the porta-cot into her new room. Walla! Problem solved. Until she is used to the new environment I’ll then mover her back into her little baby bed. But the best thing about this. Her room is on the other side of the house.

Good news to end the day

Well, for the first time in a long while I didn't even jump on the computer until 9pm at night. Not even to check email. Why? Because we have an evaluator coming on Tuesday - and since I've been a bit reminiscent of my house duties I started the day off by cleaning my windows. Yes, I cleaned my windows...and walls.

Now, the walls were a totally new issue. My lovely, artistic daughter has left her signature in the kitchen, lounge room, hallway and a particularly big one (black permanent marker) in the bathroom. A tip for all you out there that want to rid yourself of small scuff marks and such without painting the whole wall, purchase a sponge and dab on the paint.

So off I go to Bunnings (my local major hardware store). Can I just say that I love hardware stores? Well, I do. I like looking at fancy lights, or nice fixtures and oohing and ahhing over one day purchasing these for my house. Or the nice paint for my feature wall or how I want to paint my as-yet-built retaining wall. All of these items are looking to the future, but the funny thing is I'm not very proficient at DIY. Although I would give it a fair whack.

So anyway, the walls and windows are clean and general housecleaning to go. *sigh*

So 9.30pm I have an email that arrived at 10:30am to top off my day. NCP has asked to see a full of my manuscript A Devil's Proposal (wahoo). I hope to hear something positive.

Jewel of Atlantis by Gena Showalter

A new book is out by our very own Diva. I look forward to reading this one.

All Atlantis seeks the Jewel of Dunamis, which legend claims can overcome any enemy. Grayson James, human agent of the ultra-secret Otherworld Bureau of Investigation has orders to keep it from the wrong hands -- or destroy it. What he doesn't know is that Jewel is a woman, not a stone! But once he meets this precious gem, destroying her is the last thing on his mind....
Jewel, part goddess, part prophet, is a pawn in Atlantis's constant power struggles. She needs Gray's help to win freedom and uncover the secrets of her mysterious origins. Gray needs her wisdom to navigate monster-ridden Atlantis. But need blossoms into passionate love as they fight demons, dragons, vampires -- and a prophecy that says the bond between them could destroy them both.
If you haven't ordered this yet, all I can say is...why not?

The Release Date

Well, it's been confirmed. Release date for HIS UNEXPECTED BRIDE is due out in late March. Am I excited? Yes and if a little bit thrown. New Concepts Publishing has such a fast turn around. I'm surprised and ecstatic.

Also, some of you might be interested to check out a new blog, launched by lovely Laura. It's called Aussie Romance Writers. Says it all huh. It's a place where pubbed and unpubbed writers come and play and chat and talk about the industry and other things in general.

So pop by anytime. We'd love to have you.

Getting it into gear

Today is it. Today is the first day of my career...good thing too since it's monday! So, goals are set, my ultra short-term, short-term and long term goals. Now, times to lay down the foundation, aka - my ground rules.

Alrighty, no more sitting in bed typing on my LT, if I want to have a career I must treat it as such. Set up office in the study. Dress smart. No PJs for you! And, restraint!! I see the internet and want to log on. No distraction. Make it a reward. Internet time restricted to once in the morning and once at night. (Sorry girls!!)

Daily goals are set and ready to go. So lets get to work.

Ah, what a career, flexible hours. Just have to complete the task you were set for the day.

Playing the waiting game

So now the waiting game begins.
1. I received a contract for my first manuscript (His Unexpected Bride) and have signed that and sent that baby on its way. I couldn't be more pleased with the publisher that scooped me up. NCP does produce some awesome e-books and they also come at a decent price and wonderfully packaged.
So now that I'm on the road to publication, I'm thrilled and even a little bit scared. ^_^ Silly I know. I can't wait to hear back.

2. I have also got an agent request for my first 3 chapters of another of my works. A Regency Historical 'A Devil's Proposal' and have given it a once over before sending it on its merry way. Response time for this will be approx. 8wks. So what will I do until then? Write and write like mad. I find it best to put such things at the back of my mind and focus on other things. I don't think I could stand the suspense if I thought about it often...much like a child before christmas comes. The response positive or otherwise can't come soon enough and I've only just sent it! *g*

Ahh, the joys of the waiting game.
